Copyright/Trademark question?
I run a skateboard website and I was wondering if I am allowed to post short video clips taken from old skateboard videos that are probably copyright protected. I know people post all kinds of videos on their personal social network profiles and Youtube, but I am not sure if I can post these types of videos on my commercial website. Do I need to get permission from every original source to post the videos? Or am I just worrying too much? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
that’s a good question. I would suggestion you talk to a IP attorney. Just talking to them would not cause you any money. But from my experience, you must get the producer’s consent. In the old days, you can just put down the reference and make sure you give that person the credit and you will be alright. Now that people would sue on anything, protecting your company and yourself is very important. Besides, you own the company, presumption is that you have money. if you do not have money, no one would sue you. Attorneys not plaintiff are here to take your money. Just be careful.
Make your own videos would be good.

Multimedia Video Clips as a Lecture Aid. $115.71 This inquiry was conducted in a high school chemistry class to examine if the use of video clips as a lecture aide affected the participation of twelve students and their capacity for retention of information. Data was collected in two ways: participation was recorded by taking tallies during discussions, and retention was determined by test and quiz scores. The data was analyzed by comparing two classes, only one of which used video clips. The use of video clips as a lecture aide did not necessarily improve participation during class discussions. The retention data showed that video clips seemed to help male students retain the information better than their female counterparts. As new teachers enter the profession, it is a good rule of thumb to remember to incorporate multimedia teaching aides into a high school lecture, so as to reach students of all learning styles.
