What is the best color laser printer for graphic design?
I have an invitations and announcements business and need an affordable printer that can produce high quality graphics and text on a variety of papers (vellum, cardstock, etc). Speed is not as important as quality, the text needs to be impeccable and the resolution has to be on point. I’ve previously used a HP inkjet and like the vivid colors they produce but have experienced smudging on my metallic coated papers. I was looking at the Brothers brand because of their high resolution but am still unsure because of toner prices. Anyone have any good recommendations, keeping in mind affordability?
The past few years, the prices of color laser printers have significantly decreased. Nowadays, not only offices and workgroups can own laser printers but ordinary households as well. Laser printer prices went down to cater the mass market as well as to compete with the inkjet printers. Laser printers usually produce better printouts than inkjet printers. Hence, more and more consumers prefer to own a color laser printer these days. If you are one of those consumers who are on a tight budget but wants to have a decent color laser printer, here is a list of the most affordable laser printers that you can avail in the market.

The Price of Freedom $17.93 Twenty-five year old Jack Sparrow is a clean-cut merchant seaman pursuing a legitimate career as a first mate for the East India Trading Company. He sometimes thinks back to his boyhood pirating days, but he doesn’t miss Teague’s scrutiny or the constant threat of the noose. Besides, he doesn’t have much choice; he broke the Code when he freed a friend who had been accused of rogue piracy, and he can no longer show his face in Shipwreck Cove. When Jack’s ship is attacked by pirates and his Captain dies in the altercation, Jack suddenly finds himself in command. But the wily sailor’s skillful negotiations with the pirate captain–who turns out to be a woman from his past–result in a favorable turn-out that puts Jack in line for official promotion. After making port in Africa, Jack is summoned by Cutler Beckett, who makes him Captain of a ship called the Wicked Wench. Beckett gives Jack an assignment. He has heard a legend about a mysterious island named Zezura whose labyrinthine bowels are said to contain a glorious treasure. Beckett suspects that one of his house slaves, a girl named Aisha, is from Zezura. He asks Jack to take her along on his voyage and seduce her into divulging the island’s whereabouts. In payment for his services, Beckett promises Jack a share of the treasure. But this task isn’t as easy as Jack initially believes. He begins to fall for Aisha, and after winning her trust, he takes her back to Zezura and reports to Beckett that he found nothing. Furious with Jack for his failure, Beckett orders Captain Sparrow to make up for the loss by transporting a new cargo–slaves. Jack wants to refuse, but he has no leverage. He reluctantly agrees and sets out for the Americas. A few days into the voyage, Jack reaches a breaking point. He can’t in good conscience continue with the journey, so he sails to Zezura and sets the slaves free. But Beckett is prepared for this; an EITC ship is watching Jack’s every move and intercepts the Wicked Wench, ordering her back to Africa. Having lost yet another lucrative venture, Beckett wants to hit Jack where it hurts the most. So he brands Jack as a pirate and then sets fire to the Wicked Wench. Full of love for his ship, Jack dives into the ocean and swims out to the sinking vessel, but he can do nothing to quell the flames. The ship starts to go down, and he goes down with her. At the moment before he loses consciousness, a familiar squid-like face appears. In a last-ditch effort, Jack decides to take a chance. Maybe he can bargain with Davy Jones and somehow get his ship back. . . . |

Time’s Arrow and Archimedes’ Point by Price, Huw Edition ILL, 0 $23.49 Why is the future so different from the past? Why does the past affect the future and not the other way around? What does quantum mechanics really tell us about the world? In this important and accessible book, Huw Price throws fascinating new light on some of the great mysteries of modern physics, and connects them in a wholly original way. Price begins with the mystery of the arrow of time. Why, for example, does disorder always increase, as required by the second law of thermodynamics? Price shows that, for over a century, most physicists have thought about these problems the wrong way. Misled by the human perspective from within time, which distorts and exaggerates the differences between past and future, they have fallen victim to what Price calls the double standard fallacy: proposed explanations of the difference between the past and the future turn out to rely on a difference which has been slipped in at the beginning, when the physicists themselves treat the past and future in different ways. To avoid this fallacy, Price argues, we need to overcome our natural tendency to think about the past and the future differently. We need to imagine a point outside time — an Archimedean view from nowhen — from which to observe time in an unbiased way. Offering a lively criticism of many major modern physicists, including Richard Feynman and Stephen Hawking, Price shows that this fallacy remains common in physics today — for example, when contemporary cosmologists theorize about the eventual fate of the universe. The big bang theory normally assumes that the beginning and end of the universe will be very different. But if we are to avoid the double standard fallacy, we need to consider time symmetrically, and take seriously the possibility that the arrow of time may reverse when the universe recollapses into a big crunch. Price then turns to the greatest mystery of modern physics, the meaning of quantum theory. He argues that in missing the Archimedean viewpoint, modern physics has missed a radical and attractive solution to many of the apparent paradoxes of quantum physics. Many consequences of quantum theory appear counterintuitive, such as Schrodinger’s Cat, whose condition seems undetermined until observed, and Bell’s Theorem, which suggests a spooky nonlocality, where events happening simultaneously in different places seem to affect each other directly. Price shows that these paradoxes can be avoided by allowing that at the quantum level the future does, indeed, affect the past. This demystifies nonlocality, and supports Einstein’s unpopular intuition that quantum theory describes an objective world, existing independently of human observers: the Cat is alive or dead, even when nobody looks. So interpreted, Price argues, quantum mechanics is simply the kind of theory we ought to have expected in microphysics — from the symmetric standpoint.Time’s Arrow and Archimedes’ Point presents an innovative and controversial view of time and contempo |
