Creating The Skater Look
If you look at fashion most closely, you are bound to realize that most fashion ideas were brought about by a rising music genre or by a suddenly-popular figure. Such is the case with skate clothing. If you were to ask generations before what skate clothing is about, you might find yourself having to deal with blank stares. Today, however, a mere mention of skate boards and you are sure to find yourself engaging in some small talk about Tony hawk, X Games and clothes that make a skateboarder.
Although skate clothing looks more authentic if you really are into the sport, most people do not feel the need to learn the sport before they decide to buy some threads. This is made much easier by the fact that there are literally hundreds of online sites that allow outright purchase, oftentimes with free delivery, of skate clothes.
To make sure that you get the authentic skater look, one of the first things that you need to keep in mind is comfort and the ability to move around without much hindrance. This does not mean, however, that you can wear shorts or worn out jeans. Although you would usually see skaters with worn out jeans, this is not actually a fashion statement but is the effect of falling over and brushing against surfaces whenever they skate. Wearing worn out jeans screams ‘poser” so keep away fro this one.
Although most people would say that showing a glimpse of your underwear would complete your skating clothes, this is actually not necessary. Keep in mind that your jeans would need to be tightly secured on your waist to enable you to do jumps and turns without having to worry about anything falling off or your clothes getting caught on something.
An authentic skateboarding clothing also features plain white shirts or jerseys. There is no need for you to get shirts that have unique, loud designs as skating is all about the moves not about what your personal attitude is. A sweatshirt or a hoodie is recommended especially if the weather is cold. As for your shoes, make sure that you have a sturdy pair of sneakers. Again, keep from the rugged, worn-out look and stay with clean sneakers that have sturdy laces.
